John Cale will be present in Paris for the upcoming concert. Included on the 'Procession' single was a new version of The Velvet Undergrounds 'All Tomorrows Parties'. Front-woman Nico passed away in 1988, whilst bassist, guitarist and singer Sterling Morrison died in 1995 and Lou Reed in 2013, leaving only drummer Moe Tucker and guru of all things avant-garde John Cale still going strong. Despite the band's split in 1973, their legacy of poetic post-Rimbaud style lyrics, punk rebellion, experimental methods and laissez-faire attitude set against a backdrop of drug-fuelled festivals, urban wanderings and a lifestyle of debauchery has lived on in popular culture well beyond the group’s glory days and continues to impact music fans both young and old nearly half a century on. For a select few of the album's first releases, it was even possible to peel away this brightly colored cardboard banana to reveal a pink version concealed underneath, the true meaning of which fans were invited to interpret as they pleased. ![]() ![]() First managed by Andy Warhol, the king of pop culture was also responsible for the iconic banana design on the cover of the group's 1967 album The Velvet Underground and Nico. Centered around the group helmed by Lou Reed and John Cale, this one-off Parisian exposition aims to appeal to both old timers and new listeners. Charged with the mission of reviving the rock and roll universe of cult group The Velvet Underground, Christian Fevret and Carole Mirabello of the Inrockuptibles have together curated an entirely unique exhibition.
